The parts of the Ohio to Erie Trail which are on streets and roads

This list of streets and roads is changing year to year as city streets and rural roads are replaced with new sections of paved recreational trail. Working with local government agencies, we have selected street/road routes closest to the OTET and opt for streets with the least amount of automotive travel. Street and road sections are well marked with the Ohio State Bike Route 1 signs and/or Ohio to Erie Trail logo signs. A section labeled as "street" is in a City or Village and "roads" are in rural areas. We have not listed streets or roads that are less than 1/10 mile in length.

We estimate that there are 30 miles of the OTET on city streets and rural roads as of November 2025. The bulk of that distance (17.4 miles) is the rural road/street route from Fredericksburg through Apple Creek to Dalton. OTET total mileage is 323.1 miles; Streets/Roads 9%; Dedicated Trail 91%.
