May 18, 9am-1pm: MAGI Poker Ride

135 Lake Ave NW, Massillon, OH 44647 Held every May, this annual ride raises money for local trail development and maintenance. Not a race! Collect cards as you ride along the historic Towpath Trail, then play your hand against other riders for great prizes. Poker hands a $5 each; play as many hands as you like. 2024 Date: May 18, 9am-1pm Directly on the trail, No advance registration needed. Start anytime between 9am and 1pm. Ride is around 16 miles, with an optional extended loop.  LINK

July 12, 6-10pm: Massillon Museum Island Party

121 Lincoln Way E, Massillon, OH 44646 Widely attended, family-friendly summer community festival held by the Massillon Museum. Live music, kids' activities, food and drinks. Admission is free. 2024 date: July 12, 6-10pm

  • Iron Bridge at Oak Knoll Park  618 6th St. SW, Massillon, OH 44647 Oak Knoll Park is the home of the oldest surviving iron bridge in Ohio, also the first iron bridge built in Stark County. Designed by Joseph Davenport, who later formed the Massillon Bridge Company, the bridge was originally erected in Alliance in 1859. In 1899, it was relocated to Massillon in a very early, rare example of historic bridge preservation. The bridge was restored again in 2010.   • Historic Fourth Street  Fourth Street, Massillon, OH 44646 Historic Fourth Street in Northeast Massillon is lined with historic residences that represent architectural styles spanning an entire century, from 1830 to 1938. The grande dame of them all is Five Oaks, designed by Cleveland architect Charles F. Schweinfurth in 1894. Five Oaks has housed the Massillon Women's Club since 1924. Walking tours are often available for this area. Inquire at the Massillon Women's Club or the Massillon Museum.

  • Spring Hill Historic Home & Underground Railroad Site  1401 Springhill Lane NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646 Settled by Quakers in 1811, this historic property was once a stop on the Underground Railroad. The 16-acre property operated as a wool farm and later a dairy, and includes a number of historic outbuildings. Home tours are available. Tours are available by advance reservation year-round. Walk-in tours are available every Saturday, June through Labor Day. Distance from the Trail: 1.2 mi, directions Maps Link
